Kamado Joe
Must Have accessories Kamado Joe
- A Kamado BBQ Cast Iron Half Grate is useful for putting your Classic Joe appliance into full grill mode. For a Big Joe, you need the larger Big Joe grate. Cast iron is better suited to searing meat at high temperatures due to its high mass. If you want to grill some steaks for your friends, this grate will definitely come in handy for achieving the same result across your entire cooking surface.
- We also highly recommend a Kamado Joe Accessory Rack. This fits on a Flexible Cooking Rack and can be used to place your heat shields on, insert a wok or place your pizza stone on.
- The stainless steel drip pan is often purchased by customers who want to make low & slow dishes such as pulled pork, spare ribs or pork belly. You can also use it to season meat or as a grill tray for baking vegetables. Be sure to select the right size.
- We recommend a pizza stone because pizzas baked in a kamado are very tasty. What’s more, baking pizzas is great fun to do with friends. Customers have told us time and again that they no longer go to the pizzeria since they have a Kamado Joe at home. If you’re going to make pizzas, a pizza peel is a must for sliding the pizzas on and off the pizza stone. For more pizza accessories, take a look at the Gozney range.
- If you want to cook low and slow or are working with a large piece of meat, you need a BBQ thermometer. The Meater Pro is by far the most popular model today and also our favourite!
- High Temperature BBQ gloves are essential for working safely and efficiently. Why not use oven gloves? You’ll burn a hole in them too quickly.
- High-quality Restaurant Grate Lumb Charcoal is important for cooking on a ceramic barbecue. We always recommend trying our charcoal first – that way you can experience for yourself how smoothly and efficiently your Kamado works with high-quality fuel. If you want to cook low & slow dishes such as ribs, pulled pork or pork belly, we recommend Kamado Joe’s Big Block. This hardwood charcoal provides more aroma and burns for a very long time. Ideal for slow cooking.
- We prefer to use natural firelighters to light the Kamado Joe, as they ignite easily and burn intensely. Make sure you always use natural firelighters or firelighters.
- Smoking wood chunks go hand in hand with low & slow cooking. In our webshop, you can see the different types of wood, with an explanation of what each type is most suitable for. Apple or cherry are a great combination with pork, while hickory or oak take red meat to the next level.
- A dry rub, or dry spice mixture, is the best option for flavouring your meat. An oil-based marinade is not such a good idea, as the oil will burn and give a bitter taste.
- A brass BBQ brush is a handy little brush that allows you to easily clean the bars of your grills, as well as between them. A larger brush will damage your felt more quickly.
- We recommend using a care spray to maintain your grills. This spray provides a protective layer so that your grills do not stick, are easy to clean and do not rust.
- A Grill Cover: you can leave a Kamado Joe outside all year round, but it is advisable to protect it with a cover. Not only against rain, but also and especially against dust and pollen. This will save you a lot of cleaning work.
- Of course, the possibilities with a Kamado Joe are endless. You can find all accessories in our webshop.
